Way back in maybe May? or June? A nice woman named Christina messaged me on Etsy for Bridal Shower henna! Her shower was scheduled on the 27th and she wanted to get her henna done a few days before.

So anyways, Christina came over 3 days before her shower. She also wanted a spray tan and asked me if that would cause issues with her henna. I learned from a Facebook Group called Henna Hub, that if you apply henna over a spray tan, the henna isn't properly absorbed into your skin. The spray tan would act as a barrier between the henna and the skin so that was out of the question.

We pondered the idea if she could get the spray tan the day after her henna appointment, and that wasn't advised either because the stain wouldn't stain and mature as well as it should because the spray tan would also be absorbed in her skin. I'm sure there are better explanations but this is how I understand it best! She got her spray tan two days after her henna which works out perfectly.

So when I saw her on Saturday (the day of her shower) her tan looked amazing, her henna looked amazing and her party looked amazing. I was there for 4 hours and did maybe henna'd 30 hands?

Her family, friends, and to be in-laws were extremely pleasant. Everyone had different questions about henna and were intrigues by it! Everything was so well executed and so beautiful! This was my first time doing a party this big- 50 people is still a lot for me! I'm so happy that my first experience was a good one!

A special thank you to Christina for all of this, and for allowing me to be part of her special day, and a special thanks to Kamni for putting my name out there!

Aanchal's Henna Tips

#1

Let the paste fully dry and avoid water on the area where henna was applied.

#2

The longer the paste is on, the better it is for your stain. Use something sticky like hairspray or lemon-sugar to keep the henna on.

#3

Once the paste is off, protect your stain with oil like coconut oil, or hand salve. Especially before showering!
