I saw this post on Facebook not long ago, and could relate to it almost too well. The Henna Artist, Antoinette (Magic Magpie Studio) talked about how people took notice of her hands being stained with henna!
When doing someone's henna/mehndi, you're bound to make mistakes. Not only that, but you may have to fix some pieces, or your cone may leak a bit.
I'm a perfectionist, as are most henna artists so we can relate to this well.
If I don't like how something looks, I use my finger or a Q-tip to fix it. Mostly, it's my finger. When fixing the henna with my finger, I completely disregard the fact that it stains, and then my hands may look something like this!
This picture was taken after a festival, and since I haven't done any big events like that, it's never been that much for me. But I've seen my hands awkwardly stained post henna appointments.
I used to be embarrassed and a bit weirded out by it, and always wondered what people would think when they'd see my awkwardly spotty stained henna hands.
I recently stopped caring as to how or what people would think and more so embraced it. It's a sign of my hard work, my effort, and my passion. The way Antoinette embraced it has inspired me to do the same.
This is life.
